  • Introduction

    A Lion Float with a body made from a massive cart covered in a canopy containing a band of large and small drums, flutes, and other instruments, and a lion mask dancing and marching in front is a common sight in the Iida and Shimoina regions. There are also people playing the parts of monkeys or Emperor Yu who leads the lion around. The mountains of snow and fallen cherry blossoms in the Ruriji Temple grounds makes for a gorgeous performance.
